Camping Kovacine is one of Croatia's most popular campsites with families and puppy owners who like to come camping on Cres for its amenities, excellent location and sandy beaches. Camping Kovačine was awarded the prestigious ADAC Superplatz award in 2024, making it one of the 190 best campsites in Europe.

Camping on a pebble beach

Camping Kovacine is a 20-minute walk from the centre of Cres, along a beautifully landscaped seaside promenade. The campsite is very popular with families, as it has a pebble beach and two heated swimming pools and a small slide in the upper part of the campsite.

In last year's German ADAC evaluation, Camping Kovacine was awarded 5 stars and the Superplatz title, which is a guarantee of the quality of the facilities on offer.

NEW - Over the last few years, the Kovačine campsite has made significant improvements to its additional facilities. Some of the older mobile homes have been replaced with new, more spacious ones, a wellness centre with sauna and fitness room has been built by the pool, a children's playroom and a fish shop is open in the summer season.

Last year they extended the camping season, so this year the campsite will be open from 22 March to 3 November, which is great for the Easter holidays and then the autumn potato holidays.

A pizzeria and a seafront café will also be open from the opening of the campsite, as well as a shop and a wellness area with sauna and fitness room. The swimming pool is scheduled to open in the second half of May.

Dogs are very welcome at Camping Kovacine, which has a dog beach, dog showers in the toilets and a fenced dog playground.

In total, there are 950 camping pitches (60-120 m2) at Kovačine, of which 2/3 are in the textile section and the rest in the nudist section. The pitches are equipped with electricity and water, and some of the pitches right by the sea are for tent campers only, as there are steps leading up to them. The left part of the campsite has excellent shade from pine trees, while the central part is shaded by olive trees.

Another new feature is the interesting 360 degree view of the pitches.

The pebble beach at the campsite is very well maintained with some shade, and there is an aquapark for children with inflatable playgrounds and a diving board for jumping into the water. It is commendable that the beach access for people with disabilities is well maintained, and there is also a lift to lower people with disabilities into the sea. Dogs are allowed to swim in several places, which are clearly marked.

There is a shaded children's playground and animation area near the beach, and an indoor games room by the pools.

The campsite has well-equipped sanitary facilities, including children's toilets and laundry facilities, as well as a caravan park, gas filling station, fridge hire and a small marina with boat moorings.

For sports enthusiasts, there are basketball and volleyball courts, a diving centre, SUP boards and kayaks for hire, and tennis courts at the nearby hotel. The campsite also has a health clinic, which is important information for families with young children.

Mobile homes for rent in Cres

Camping Kovačine also offers mobile homes for rent. The best location with a sea view is in the larger Superior mobile homes (Delux Mare, Mare, Comfort), which are modernly furnished mobile homes with a surface of 32 m2 for 4 - 6 people, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room with kitchen and a spacious terrace with a sea view.

More affordable are the Family mobile homes (21 - 24 m2), which are also large enough for 4 - 6 people, have two bedrooms and one bathroom, and are located just behind the Superior mobile homes.

For couples, there are the Twin (12 m2) and Trend (19 m2 - also available for 2+2 persons), which, like the other cottages, have their own bathroom and kitchenette, as well as a sleeping area.

Some mobile homes are also part of the FKK section of the campsite.

As this is a puppy-friendly campsite, puppies are of course allowed in the mobile homes.

Affordable camping and rental of mobile homes

Prices for camping in Campsite Kovacine will be slightly higher in the 2024 season. In the main season, which is short and only runs from 27 July to 18 August, the price for 2 adults and 2 children (5-12 years) without additional discounts will be 75.10 €, and 85.10 € for a pitch in the first row by the sea.
